Selling on the Stoep
Many small streets in Stone Town are characterised by an enlarged step with proportions similar to the height of a chair. This defines the entrance to the door. The step acts as a table for products and the street becomes an open store environment where people gather to buy items and often encounter social meets, building and exchanging social values.
