RDP housing observation
The Reconstruction and development programme (RDP) housing sits within a public housing program run by the government which assigns free housing to those who are unable to afford housing. This programme was initiated in 1994 to tackle social problems across South Africa however lacks any community programmed spaces. As a result, residents (especially youth) hangout at the walls as a gathering site.
